Additionally, Shadchanut is a halachic obligation (Choshen Mishpat chapter 185, end of clause 10). According to Binyan's guidelines, this fee must be paid directly to the shadchan prior to the wedding. The amount, as determined by the community Rabbanim, is $1,200 or more from each side.
